While I believe this chart is true today, this is a lagging indicator and Ether is new, so keep a lookout for positive or negative correlation trends in the future.

Agreed, need a bigger sample size to see how the relationship will be ultimately, but that is interesting thus far. Pretty much all alts(to this point) have been assets of the same class as bitcoin, and have moved together with it (albeit at different rates thus changes in the ratios of their price to btc's). So, if ETH maintains it's independence it would be a first.
