If you look to the left of the chart you'll see a bull pennant that failed to produce a continuation of the trend. In order to play these types of patterns we wait for a breakout. A break above the line did not occur therefore we would not have made a trade.

Same situation now we have a bull flag. Wait for a close above resistance
