Brazil posted a current account deficit of $4.669 billion in August, central bank figures showed on Friday, while economists in a Reuters poll expected a shortfall of $5.5 billion.
Foreign direct investment (FDI) in the month hit $7.989 billion, exceeding the $6.15 billion projected in the poll.
