Japan Activation Capital takes stakes in manufacturers Omron, Tadano

Japan Activation Capital (JAC) has taken stakes in manufacturers Omron 6645 and Tadano 6395, according to statements released on Monday, as the investment firm ramps up its exposure to Japanese companies.

JAC's took a roughly 4% stake in Omron for about 30 billion yen ($210 million), according to the investment firm.

Shares of Omron, a manufacturer of factory automation and healthcare equipment, have fallen by roughly a third this year.

The investment firm has taken an 11% stake in Tadano, a manufacturer of cranes.

JAC was established by former Carlyle Group CG executive Hiroyuki Otsuka to invest in mid- to large-cap Japanese companies.

The firm has previously taken stakes in household goods makers Lion 4912 and Pigeon 7956.
