Markel Insurance appoints Stobbs as chief strategy officer
(The Insurer) - Markel Insurance has appointed Christian Stobbs as chief strategy and corporate development officer, the company said on Tuesday.
Stobbs will initially be based in the U.S. and report directly to CEO Simon Wilson.
He previously served as managing director of Markel's Asia Pacific operations, but announced he was planning to relocate back to the UK in April.
Under his leadership, Markel grew its Asia Pacific gross written premiums from $40 million in 2019 to an expected $250 million by year end. Sucheng Chang has since taken over the MD role for the region and began his tenure in the role on Monday.
In his new role, Stobbs has been tasked with identifying and advancing strategic growth opportunities across Markel's insurance operations.
Wilson was appointed as the CEO of Markel Insurance in March, after former CEO Jeremy Noble left the company.
