Federal Reserve Bank of Boston President Susan Collins on Tuesday said that the U.S. central bank's employment and inflation goals are not at odds over longer-run horizons.
The two goals are "highly complementary," although the Fed can face challenges balancing the two goals over the short run, Collins said at an appearance before an event held by the National Association for Business Economics, in Washington. Collins also said that the Fed seeks to achieve its two goals sustainably and does not try to hit them at an exact point in time.
