A visual representation on how price is affected over time with regards to buy and sell cycles. Notice that the 2 cycles operate on different frequencies. Waves like visual sound. The green wave acts as a negative polarity and repels price away , while red attracts and bring price down. When the tops of each wave is separated, each wave emits the strongest force to its associated action. when they mix price action becomes muted or confused and brakes down. This would explain sideways action.
In a bull market, the green wave grows in amplitude (volume increases) creating a stronger force making price increase exponentially like the vol knob on your stereo. price still must follow both buy sell rules but there is more buy action growth and only some sell corrections. When volume decreases, red takes over and the bearish tones take place.
Have a look at the chart. Notice the relationships between wave proximity to each other and how price acts.
