Please don't mind my lousy grammar as i had no time to really work on it , im sure you could imagine why
Why the Feds Got it wrong And Cathy’s Got it right
In recent there has been turmoil in the market place as to the inflationary pressure that we have noticed in the recent economic data such as the PPI and the CPI reports. The feds most recent hawkishness causing great distress to the market turmoil that we are currently witnessing. Given that the markets are a forward indicator the market is repricing in the data to the current per share price, but why is the market not finding a bottom ?? simply said the market is unsure ….
The market is telling us something, something the market sees but the feds don’t !! something is wrong !! what is it ? it’s the softening of one of the most robust pandemics ever. We are starting to see the economy of the pandemic unravel which is prevalent in a company such as PTON ( Peloton ) Or NFLX ( Netflix ) which have both recently reported. Further I would add that the issue in our supply chain which was apparent in the demand and boost to the economy (because of Fed fiscal stimulus) in my opinion has been the catalyst for the inflationary concern that and covid. I suspect that we will continue to see weakness in the chip makers and any other recently left over covid trade. The end of the day raising interest rates and a softening economy is a recipe for disaster. Which to me brings up point number two
Why do I think Cathy’s got it right ? Her timing may have been bad but her trade idea is right. I believe that as the case for the feds which is unfolding before us takes to its bottom, that there will be a reverse in companies such as the growth stocks that have been taking the brunt of the market’s punishment for the last year. I believe that their growth in a tightening interest environment is detrimental to their price expansion over the next 2 years. As these companies continue to show strength in this environment it will be the catalyst for their interest by investors in the companies. I particularly am talking about PLTR (Palantir) that has been growing by 30% yoy and is profitable. Granted they are trading at an extreme multiple on there PE but comparative to industry favorites and this company is having a fire sale on their common shares. This will all be apparent in upcoming earnings
All said apart from the concern of the raising interest rates , I still believe the economy is still in expansion , but in the expansion we were pre covid
