The way I've been thinking about this for a while is that BTC investors have realized there's massive Alt competition, and that BTC is not necessarily the end winner. It reminds me of MySpace, being the first one doesn't necessarily mean you will win out. Not saying that that BTC is not gonna be ultimately a top player but with investors pulling money out, they will likely reevaluate all coins before investing again.
I think XRP is a safe bet (with ETH second). The way it quickly came back after the first major pullback was impressive.
I'm planning to buy on the downtrend reversals with clear stop losses just in case.
