Most didn't see the drop coming before and will probably miss the signs the next time around. Anyone that had the foresight would have looked delusional. And then it happened. The move usually only becomes clear after the fact. Unless you learn to recognize the conditions and see what's going on behind price in the background.
History repeats. The past predicts the future because humans like familiarity, and patterns, are emotionally driven, and are creatures of habit. Markets move on an imbalance of supply and demand or a lack of supply and demand. As a result, each move sets up the next. Everything is connected. Yin yang. Ebb and flow.
The range has expanded, leaving large wicks on either side. Price is currently trading in the middle. Contraction leads to expansion and vise-versa. The question now is which side will it revisit first?
