Gold prices fell on Wednesday on the prospect of a ceasefire in Ukraine, while investors braced for key U.S. inflation data later in the day to gauge the Federal Reserve's interest rate path amid trade tensions and recession fears.

The United States agreed on Tuesday to resume military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine after talks in which Kiev said it would accept a U.S. proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in its conflict with Russia, the two countries said in a joint statement.
